A Meal Shared, Luck Multiplied

In my family, every meal is shared, a tradition deeply rooted in Chinese culture, where sharing food symbolises unity, prosperity, and good health.

For me, sharing food is more than a polite gesture; it’s an expression of care and connection, naturally bringing people together and creating a sense of closeness and belonging.

The inspiration behind this scarf comes from a meaningful moment: the first meal I shared with my family after returning to Hong Kong. Over dim sum, I was reunited with relatives I hadn’t seen in over a decade.

I chose to paint food, specifically dim sum, because dim sum translates to ‘touch the heart.’ These small dishes, made for sharing, perfectly embody this scarf’s story.

Every item depicted on the scarf comes from shared meals, capturing the warmth, joy, and nostalgia that food brings when enjoyed with the people you love.
